Born and brought up in Mumbai, DJ Manish
a.k.a DJM entered the D.J'ing scene at the age of 17, while
still in college. His love affair with music began at a
small pub in South Mumbai where he assisted the resident
DJ at that time. This proved to be a valuable learning experience
until he decided to focus on his college education while
concurrently taking on professionally rewarding freelance
assignments for corporates and individuals. DJ Manish's
passion for the art grew when he was declared the first
runner up at an inter-college D.J'ing championship (2001)
attended by participants from several colleges across Mumbai.
It was here that his talent was recognized by the who's
who of the industry. He goes on to win the MTV Motoalert
All India DJ Challenge in 2003.
"Winning the MTV Motoalert All India DJ
Challenge reinforced my belief that when you free your mind
through your music, the world will listen" - DJ Manish
The championship, hosted by MTV and Motorola,
was a part of a series of such challenges that took place
in South East Asia (China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand & India).
This talent search followed a rigorous elimination process
with celebrity judges, media coverage and screaming fans
to add to the excitement. The winners had a chance to showcase
their talent at Phuture, Zouk in Singapore. It also gave
the 5 triumphant D.J's from South East Asia a chance to
participate in a D.J Workshop held in London with BT; a
world renowned DJ/Producer. DJM recalls the final performances
in Mumbai; competing with the best in the business brought
out his finest performance. His winning presentation was
cheered by hundreds of fans.
DJ Manish is also the first Indian DJ to
produce a desi remix for an American Band called "Dragonfly".
This track featured in the Dragonfly Remixes CD also happens
to be an international one with releases in UK, Europe and
USA.
His style of music includes house, dance,
bollywood, bhangra & hip-hop. Remixing has always been
his hobby. He continues to pursue his dream of delivering
crowd-pulling performances across India and other major
locations across the world as well as continually creating
staggering compilations.
